About me

I’m an oil painter based in brooklyn, New York:)

Clothing is a language that speaks for people before they even say a word, but my wardrobe has limited vocabularies. Not only because my bank account wouldn’t allow me to splurge on dresses I have no occasions to wear, but as an immigrant constantly seeking a sense of belonging in the States, I often dress to blend in to avoid conspicuousness. It leads to silencing part of my truthful self. I wondered who I would become if I didn’t care about the unwritten rules of dressing and behavior, thus came up with a solution to discover: Borrowing outfits and accessories that I don’t usually wear in public, imagining the places and scenarios I would want to be in when wearing them, and painting my reveries on canvases, where rules and norms don’t apply, then returning the outfits after. By doing so, I create, experiment, and experience new personas in every painting, which allows me to continue to blend into society in real life and pursue individuality in art simultaneously.
